What is a postural assessment?

Posture is the posture that a person is seated while sitting, standing, or lying on their back. Postural tests examine your posture and posture to determine whether there are any imbalances that may cause or contribute to pain or discomfort.

A postural assessment in London involves manual tests to assess the extent to which joints and muscles are functioning and if they are imbalances that should be addressed.

The body is optimally while it’s sitting in a good posture. When your body is in a proper posture and alignment the body moves and distributes the weight in a uniform way, allowing joints, muscles, and spine to work in order to enable us to move smoothly. If something is not in the proper alignment, injury and pain could happen.

We look into the way your body moves and working. We seek out any irregularities and compensatory events that could have occurred and try to find and address the root cause.

This type of examination is typically done in the event of a frequent or excessive use accident to the lower extremities. This includes;

Shin Splints

Achilles tendinopathy (pain stiffness, pain, as well as swelling and pain in the Achilles tendon)

patella-femoral pain (knee pain)

Plantar Fasciitis (foot pain)

In an evaluation, our therapists will take a look at the overall position of lower limbs, both dynamically and statically. They will evaluate the range of motion and conduct additional tests to determine weak spots and stiffness.

For instance, if the client is injured in the lower left part of their body, an evaluation will determine if his or the way of walking has changed. We will examine how the patterns of compensation between one side and the other have been formed. We will offer a comprehensive assessment of how to address the problems.

By evaluating posture and movement we can evaluate and make the necessary adjustments by making simple lifestyle adjustments such as exercising and stretching. Treatment plans are custom-made and will differ based on the findings of the examination. Our therapists can suggest exercises or treatments in light of the results from the session. The suggestions will be thoroughly discussed with you.

Benefits can include:

Muscle lengthening and improved flexibility

ensuring joints and bones are in the correct alignment (to help support muscles)

A reduction in the amount of frequent wear on joints (too much of it could cause arthritis)

The spine is prevented from becoming stuck in an abnormal posture

Avoiding overuse and strain of muscles

In order to prevent backache and any other muscular discomfort

improving proprioception/balance and weight transference

strengthening core stability and balancing the pelvis muscles

Assessment can also aid in making an informed choice of footwear (for instance sneakers for running).

Anyone could benefit from a postural examination by determining how your body’s adaptation to the demands of life. Everybody develops bad habits with time, even if we do our best to stay clear of. For instance, by being at work for hours, placing babies on your hips or not stretching prior to and after exercising and we all experience weak spots and variations in our actions. A thorough assessment will reveal these issues and provide understanding of how to improve the way you move.

Patients who suffer from chronic problems or are not performing will benefit greatly from an assessment of posture. Being aware is the initial step towards finding out the root of any problems.
